Why student exchanges?

It is all about a chance to see how others work, play, study and live; to compare life styles andcultures, to make new friends and enjoy new horizons, and to investigate topics of common interest. The goal of these exchanges is not only to have young people make contact with their peers indifferent nations but also to work on joint curriculum projects with the partner school. Students andteachers from schools identify suitable topics for investigation, possibly on a cross-cultural basis. In addition to the scholastic experience, students’ families and the local community participateactively in the program. Each exchange is approximately of two weeks’ duration and occurs during the scholastic year inorder to offer participating students full immersion in the activities of the partner school.Exchanges usually occur over a two-year period. The ages of the Italian students range from 16to 18, depending on the class involved, i.e. third and fourth-year students. The number of studentsinvolved in the exchange is usually around 20, and the official language of the exchange is English.
